About Rae

Hi, all!

Cozy mystery author Rae Davies with the dogs in her life. I’m Rae Davies, author of the Dusty Deals Mystery series, set in Montana and romantic comedies, set in the Missouri Ozarks. I’m also (under the name Lori Devoti) the author of dark paranormal romance, young adult novels and urban fantasy.

I’ve always loved mystery novels. I started, like so many people, with Agatha Christie and after reading all of her books (many more than once), I moved on to many other more modern authors. Some of my faves are Susan Conant, Carolyn Hart and Joan Hess. I also love to laugh – try to do that as often as I can – and love my animals. I think you will see signs of both of those loves in my books. (Both the romances and the mysteries.)

I have four books out in the Dusty Deals Mystery Series: Loose Screw, Cut Loose, Loosey Goosey and Let Loose. And I am working on more.

I also have two romantic comedies available: Love is All Around and Love is All You Need. These books were my first traditionally published books. (Originally published by Kensington Books under the author name Lori Devoti.) They are set in the Missouri Ozarks where I grew up and feature a lot of characters similar to people I knew in my childhood.

I also lived in Montana for a number of years. So that setting is based on personal experience and love too.

I hope that tells you a bit more about me and my books. Please poke around a bit and if you are on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, find me there! I love to connect with other book fans! To keep up to date with my releases, sign up for my newsletter. (I also try to share links to free books both on my newsletter and via Twitter/Facebook when I find ones I think will interest my readers.)

Hoping to see you one of those places soon,

Rae

Thanks for letting Amazon give “Loose screw” free to kindle readers. I’m really enjoying it because I lived in Montana for 37 years and can picture almost every place you are talking about in Helena. Did you work for the Helena papers? Also I was born in Wisconsin and got my master’s in Madison. So I will be reading more of Dusty’s adventures. THANKS

I did work for the newspapers in Montana. I worked both at the Helena Independent Record and the Montana Standard in Butte. I’m glad you liked Loose Screw! Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

I read Loose Screw for free, well afterwards I had to continue. I’ve just finished Cut Loose and I absolutely loved it so so I got on Amazon today and ordered Loosey Goosey. I can’t wait to read it! I love the main character (Lucy’s) outlook on life and love. Lucy is so relatable to the average reader. She’s girly, yet loves comfort. She loves animals and doesn’t mind telling us about the shyness she has towards men. It’s fantastic. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks so much! I am in the downward run to finishing the 4th in the series. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Loose Screw was the first book I have read from you and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Having been owned by an Alaskan Malamute named Mashka for 15 1/2 years, it was an added treat to get to know Kiska and your obvious love of the breed shined through. I will definitely be reading your other novels. Thank you

I am very jealous that you had your malamute for over 15 years. The real Kiska unfortunately had cancer and didn’t make it anywhere near that long. It makes being able to bring him back to life in the Dusty Deals books especially rewarding. And I do love the breed. They are my Achilles heel so far as thinking maybe just one more. We have a full house for us, with two dogs and kids.

    Hi Rae

I really enjoy your books, thank you! I just bought the 4th in the series last night. Your dogs are gorgeous. My husband and I are involved in Rescue, so I have 4 small rescue dogs, Cairns, and a Jack Russel and a Westie, my 10 year old, not a rescue. So sorry about your ‘real’ Kiska having cancer, I’ve lost 3 dogs to that.

It was tough. I sobbed the whole way to the Humane Society where we had him put down. I was on the board there, so among friends.

I’m working on a new series (in addition to Dusty Deals) with a friend that is going be set around a pet rescue. We are both huge pet lovers and looking forward to it. Right now I plan on my character having a Jack Russell too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Love the series! Can’t wait for the next book. Book 1 was my favorite.
